Paternity Legal (DNA) Testing
DNA testing can be used to determine if there is a biological relationship between two individuals. This is typically done by obtaining genetic material (DNA samples) from the two individuals via cheek swabs, then comparing these samples.
A paternity test is used to determine if someone is the biological father of a child. It works by comparing the DNA of the alleged father to the DNA of the child. If possible, it is preferred to have the child’s mother participate in the Paternity Test as well, since she contributed 50% of her DNA to the child.
The results from this paternity test can be used for legal purposes. Examples of legal settings that may require this type of test include (but are not limited to):
-
Adding or removing a father’s name from the child’s birth certificate
-
Child support
-
Adoption
-
Child custody or visitation
-
Immigration
-
Medical, Social Security, or Military benefits
-
Other types of legal/verified situations
If you are just looking for a Paternity Test that can provide answers and peace of mind, and you are not planning to use the results for any kind of legal purpose, check out the Informational Paternity Test (keep in mind that the results from the Informational Paternity Test are not legally admissible). $600.00
NON INVASIVE PRENATAL (NIPP)
DNA testing can be used to determine if there is a biological relationship between two individuals. This is typically done by obtaining genetic material (DNA samples) from the two individuals, then comparing these samples.
The Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test can be used to determine the biological father of a child before the child is born. It requires a blood sample from the mother and a cheek swab from the alleged father. The fetal DNA is then separated from the mother’s DNA to create a DNA profile for the fetus. The DNA profile of the fetus is then tested against the alleged father’s DNA profile. This test can be performed at 7 weeks of pregnancy or later. Starting @ $1,350.00 - $1,600.00
